Kandia has loved animals even as a small child. When her Dad would take her and her sisters to the local farmers market, she spent her allowance on buying a chicken over spending it on treats. Her love of dogs started early in her life. Her parents used to raise and show dogs.

     When she married Mike, they established an agreement about animals. If she could sneak it in the house before he knew about it, the animal stayed. She has been very sneaky over the years. The first animals introduced to the new household were a 3-day old lamb and a baby raccoon. The lamb grew up and lived to a ripe old age here on the ranch. Kandia owned her own feed store for a few years, but quit when their baby, LeeAnn, was on the way.

     The love of animals gene must have been passed on to LeeAnn, because to this day, there is no telling what critter she will come home with in her pocket.

     Kandia has raised cockatiels, lovebirds, peacocks, hedgehogs and exotic chickens, just to name a few. The dogs she has raised have included Shih Tzu, Miniature Schnauzers and now Westies. It turned out that the Westies were the love of her life. Kandia loves being around animals. Kandia should have been a Veterinarian, she has the love and ability to care for just about any animal.
